“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”

COUPLES THERAPY:
One of the greatest places of growth and/or distress can be in our intimate relationships. Often we can be triggered by our partners and find ourselves feeling hopeless and alone. Many times in the heart of conflict there is a cry for tenderness or a deep frustration at being misunderstood by the person we love.
If you and your partner feel stuck in a difficult dynamic and are needing help in finding a way out of negative patterns, I can be of service to you. Together we can explore your relationship dynamics and understand your role in it. Sometimes couples need only to come in for a few sessions in order to figure things out and learn strategies to help stop unhealthy dynamics. Other couples enjoy the support of long term couple's counseling to help navigate through on-going challenges, such as work/life/family balance. I work with you to formulate your goals for your relationship and help you restore a strong emotional connection to each other through communication, mindfulness and homework to build back a loving bond. In order to sharpen my skill as a therapist I participate in a professional bi-weekly couples' consultation group that is led by Dr Michael Klein, PhD and professor at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). My approach is informed by Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and adult attachment theory. I welcome and serve the LGBTQ community and people of all races and abilities.
